Attended Winston-Salem Airshow today, which was another first for me. Well worth the near three-hour drive and a nearly flawlessly run event. My one gripe is that a lot of the warbirds were roped off so you couldn't really walk under them and inspect the details. Not that big of a deal. Overall, it was a very good show. Highlight was definitely the unique formation shown below, as well as seeing the Collings A-4 fly again.

Below are some photos and descriptions.

This is not a good photo, but I had to prove that this happened. This is the most unique formation I have ever seen- B-25, Sea Harrier and Skyhawk. The show was supposed to have a 100th Anniversary of the USMC flight with the Sea Harrier, Skyhawk and F4U-4, but the Corsair was a no-show, so the B-25 was substituted. Pretty cool.

Some pics of the aircraft that made up that flight...

There were two nice P-51s. The first is "Angels Playmate."

The second is "Obsession."

This is a "Super" T-6 that was modified with an R-1830. The pilot told me DC-3 mounts were used in the modification, which also included moving the cockpit aft, a bubble canopy, new cowling, and clipped rudder.

A-26 "Spirit of North Carolina" was on hand and made a lot of noise. It's nice being able to see an A-26 regularly at airshows again. This was the second time I'd seen it this year after not having seen one since 2003.

Some static T-6 shots.

This C-45 was in NAS Leemore markings. Sharp scheme.

Military statics included a Prowler and a P-3. I'm really trying to appreciate the Prowler more as its phased out. A really underappreciated and over-looked aircraft IMO.

Last, we have some nose art on the Pilatus.

looks like it was a good show, that T-6 is very interesting. As I posted a few weeks ago, VAQ-209 is leaving the station wagons behind and moving to my neighborhood with EA-18 GROWLERS @ NAS Ault.

Seen the "Super 6" at sun-n-fun in 2011 and it is a great looking modification. At first sight I didn't know what it was, even as I got closer , and only when I asked did I find out. Great photos, thanks for sharing. I've got to learn how to post photos, the luddite that I am.
