PBY-5A comes back to life

My boss, recently finished the acquisition of a PBY5A CV425/RCAF 11088 tanker 714 ex of Buffalo Airways, We are presently trying to get it flying, first engine start is here[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL-qAEq-ZxM]. Looking for various spares, pm with what you have, and I will pass on. I will email pics if anybody would like to post them.

Wonderful stuff....is the water tank still in place?

Our HARS 6A cat was also a firebomber when we got her and had the compartment beneath the engineers pylon converted in the 1950s into an integral water tank using the bulkheads for the ends and a new top with crawl way over same. The periscope water scoop was in the compartment to the rear with the overflow outlets to the side.

We removed all of this but left the lower hull drop doors in place.

This is good news and presumably means the dispute with Buffalo is over? Who is the current owner? The designation PBY-5A is, strictly speaking, not correct as it never was one although I appreciate that this is how it is registered on the official register (currently still to Buffalo). It was built as a Canso A. You do not mention the Canadian registration but it is C-FPQM.

They are its funnels! But seriously, although much larger than standard, they are in the position of the fuel tank venting system.

Agreed ....certainly in the right spot for the vents...but they are enormous !!!
