Accident Reports

Sorry for the vague caption, but who in here has access to the USAF and USAAF accident reports? I know we have a resident in here that has access to the data that some (meaning me) are to cheap or tapped out to buy the access.
Please shoot me a PM, I have an airplane that crashed near me and need all of the information I can get on it.

Go through the AFHRA and request a copy of the report. You will need some information about the accident, like: date, type of plane, pilots name, location. You won't need all this information but the more you have the better. Sometimes the report is very hard to read and does not give to many details and in some cases no information as to the disposition of the aircraft. The best thing to do if you have the serial # of the plane is request the aircraft history card. This card at times gives more information than the accident report. Best of luck locating the plane if it has not been salvaged by now. :drink3:

I have all USAAF Aircraft Accident Reports for 01Jan1941 to 31Dec1945. US and Overseas.

Cooper, I disagree. I have extensive collections of both AAF accident reports and Aircraft History Cards. The accident report gives way way more information about the accident than any AC History Card ever will. AC History Card only tells you where the AC has been and no details concerning individual mishaps or accidents. The Accident Report will contain the Form 1 and Form 1A. The Accident Report gives location of accident, people involved, witness statements, photos, Accident Investigator statements, pilot statement. AC History Card provides none of this information.

The accident report does give more information and all I was saying is at times some of the reports are unreadable and in those cases the history card is the next step for information even though very little :drink3:
