Well, it is comforting (or dis comforting, depends) to see that flag etiquette ignorance isn't exclusive to the U.S. I know some folks who still get agitated regarding the embroidered 'backwards' flag worn by Army troops on their BDU's right sleeve.

I wish I had a dollar bill for every time I've had to explain the "backwards flag" to people at the Museum, at air shows, and just out 'n about. I could buy and operate a warbird of my own with that much money! :shock:

He said while the image of the Australian flag on the left side of the Vietnam War aircraft does appear to be backwards, the flag is correctly positioned according to protocol.


Funny, too, how they were talking about the wrong side of the airplane! :lol:
(The flag in question is clearly on the 'right' side of the nose.)

They did get it correct later on in the story.
