He is - the aircraft is actually Canadian, built at Downsview IIRC.

Kudos to Jerry for agreeing to the aircraft being finished in the famous 487(NZ) Squadron colours - participants in the Amiens Prison raid and the Aarhus Gestapo HQ attacks.

Finally some good news. Been waiting for this one , its so utterly amazing, stupendous and a joy to behold. At some point I will shed a tear , this is very moving. Congrats to Warren and his hard working crew, Glyn and number one Jerry for one of the greatest achievements in warbird history! 16 years, two months and five days after Barton Aerodrome a Mosquito flies again!

I managed to see the UK example fly a couple of times when I lived there in the early 80s. I also remember watching it crash on the TV news here - what a tragedy. IIRC Hoof and the P-38 were lost a few weeks either side of that- I can't remember which it was.

Such a thrill to see another of these majestic birds take to the air - it won't replace RR299 and its crew, but it sure goes a long way to redress the balance and pays tribute to not only them- but all Mossie crews.

Dave, P-38 crashed on 14/JULY/96 - RR299 crashed on 21/JULY/96.

Hoof Proudfoot was lost in the P-38 at the Flying Legends show, the Mosquito RR299 and crew (Kevin Moorhouse and Steve Watson) lost at Barton a week later. I had been working on a major article for Warbirds Worldwide on Legends, which obviously didn't happen. A rotten week.

This has been a better week!
