NEAT!! Loved the mosquito control startup! Looks like really good progress. Somebody should tell the second yellow bump hat guy to not stand in the track of the prop.

YES!!
great effort made from different teams looking the same horizon!!

1. HONDURAN AIR MUSEUM FOUNDATION (FMAH) in charge to obtain the founds for the project.

2. HONDURAN AIR FORCE (FAH): with logistical support to the restoration.

3. THE FORMER F4U TECHNICIANS: the ones in charge to work directly on the aircraft.

all the teams work together knowing that each depend on the other´s team work, as a pyramid does.

GOOD FOR THEM!! CHEERS FOR THE JOB DONE!!!!

Will the plane actually be hangared once she's completed? Surely there's some hangar space available at the field.

yes Rob, as part of the restoration plan is the constructions of the building that will store the plane. the members of the museum are making activities to obtain founds and conclude that building. Airshows, attending school and visitors are some of those activities. in their Facebook page you can also see the engine test and some of the other activities they do.

F4U-5N FAH 609 folks:

While all these construction projects are taking place, FAH 609 will remain in the FAH side of the house, inside a temp hangar that will protect & preserve such a valuable flying machine during the rest of the restoration process.

p.s Missing fm the restoration process are the 2 speed brake assemblies on the main landing gears & a couple of cannons fm the wings!

there are no missing parts of the plane. the speed brakes were removed for the restoration process and the guns are stored in a warehouse in the Base.

J973:

Good day!

Any idea where this FAH HQ storage place is located??

I think you & I have been giving the same smoke screen story of few years back of the previous regime concerning the status of FAH 609... the MK-20 Gunsight, the removal of both ailerons, (into storage) & now the cannons not guns of FAH 609! They are all in storage!!

Why would they have a need to remove the cannons fm such a fine flying machine as FAH 609 is .. & place 'em in storage?? The very same cannons that Capt Fernando Soto Enriquez activated during July '69 to shot down not 2 but 3 aircraft fm across the Rio Goascoran?? Aren't those cannons also an intricate part of that fine flying machine?

WhistlingDF4Us/ F4U FAH 609 Folks:

..by c. 1977, the MK-20 Gunsight, ailerons & 20mm cannons were in place. By Sept-Oct 2012 when the wing ammo panels were opened it was observed that a few cannons were "missing" with the passage of time.

I believe all armament was removed fm the rest of the fleet prior to the ferry flight c. Dec 1979.
