How many B-24s remain in India?

Sun Apr 28, 2013 4:40 pm

I would guess that this has been asked and argued before. The Wix list says that three B-24s remain in India: 44-44213 on display at the India AF Museum and 44-44262 and 44-263 in storage at Poona. Does anyone have information on whether the two listed as being at Poona still exist and might be sufficient for restoration of a complete airplane? This could surely be a potential source for the B-24 that NSA has been searching for.

Photos would be nice!

My understanding is that the two "in storage" there are a myth. No photos have surfaced of them that I am aware of. Google Earth can't find them either. With the one at the museum stored outside, I can't imagine that they have the other two indoors. I think the one at the museum is the last one there...
