Running Light Installation on L-3 and L-4 Aircraft

I would never install nav lights on a L-3 or L-4 due to the weight penalty but it is obvious that some were modified. Both my O-58A and L-3C had this military conversion done. Here is a photo bucket link to the Army Tech Order and photos of the two Aeroncas were modified. I would imagine this was a stateside modification and was most likely not done to aircraft being shipped to combat areas.
