If it was an ex-military DC-9 like one of the former Air Force or Navy C-9's it would be, but otherwise no.

It's an ex airline -83. I'd like to see it's N # so I can find it's original operator. Some Super 80's were used by the Navy as ground echelon haulers, I saw a lot of them in and out of NAS Whidbey Island moving support folks to/ from carriers, now being replaced by C-40's.

Found it. It's a fairly recent airframe, 11/19/1997, l/n 53022 original customer ALASKA AIRLINES as N 949AS now N 949 NS. ALASKA did have a couple of brand new MD-80's deliver from LGB to KPAE /BADWRENCH and went right into TWA markings as ASA was starting to phase out the MD's for 737NG's

I'd just like to point out that is a MASSIVE flag there in the background. Seriously, how is that thing even staying up?

Also, I like the fade effect in the blue on the lower fuselage. Nicely done.

I think the fade is just reflection from the gray wing paint and the ramp on what looks like a cloudy day since other pictures show a solid medium blue lower, and is that flag touching the ground?

In what way does an aircraft being operated by a former governor make it a warbird? That;s like saying John Wayne was a hero cause he was in a movie about Iwo Jima once.
