As I recall the B-50 at McDill AFB was slated to go to Dover. I dont know if that ever happened.

IIRC, they don't own the Marauder or the A-20 being restored there, I think both are owned by Tallichet organization, Military Aircraft Restoration Corp. Confirmation? Maybe Bill Word or jamesintucson can also confirm that the restoration of both of these at Pima is still on hold now - reasons?


Both of those are on loan to us from MARC. Neither is currently being worked on since we presently do not have room to display them indoors and we don't want to put all that work into them only to have to leave them outside.

I go into Tampa often and we fly over Mcdill at 2,600 feet and I've noticed what I thought it is a B-29, but now I know. Anyone have close ups of it?

I believe that is a KB-50J s/n 49-0389 that was at the NMUSAF for a long time and then was moved to MacDill in the late 80's, early 90's. There was talk of moving to Dover due to corrosion issues but it never happened to my knowledge...

I bet that doing a engine swap or any sort of engine work on either the king or air cobras was a pain the rear.

The Shackleton carried the “Orange Harvest” radar warning receiver (RWR) an ESM (Electronic Support Measures for detection and classification). . This could give the bearing of any radars which illuminated the Shackleton; the receiver for “Orange Harvest” looked like a giant spark plug and sat on top of the fuselage.
