Remembrance Day is November 11th for me here in Canada.

As I sit here tonight preparing for our Museums Remembrance Day services a friend sent me this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo

Take the time to watch the video and then read the story below.

Regardless of where you live, take the time to remember our veterans and military personnel

Thanks for indulging

Tom H

Hello,

I will be spending the afternoon of Remembrance Day at Coles Bookstore at Masonville Mall in London, Ontario, for a book signing of Volume One of my book, "Remembering The Canadian Yanks".

I know it will be a humbling experience.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Good on you guys.

I'll be dusting off my poppy pin and trying to explain to folks here in the U.S. what it means.

August

Join us this weekend at the Vintage Flying Museum as we honor our Veterans! This Sunday, November 11, is Veterans Day – a time to commemorate all those who served in our armed services. This weekend, Veterans receive free admission to the museum. On Saturday, we'll be serving free hot dogs to Veterans. Please join us in thanking those who served!

The Mossie is just one part of the long-running 'Armistice at Cambridge' event. A new site (next to the hydro lake ten minutes out of town) will allow more aviation displays to join the military re-enactments, vehicles displays, model competition etc.
The major commemoration events in NZ (and Oz) are of course on ANZAC Day (April 25th).

Our Remembrance Day service takes place indoors on November 11 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum located at Hamilton Airport. This year’s guest speaker will be Ted Barris. Barris is an accomplished author, journalist and broadcaster. It is best to arrive early to ensure a seat. After the 2200 chairs are filled, there is still plenty of standing room. There is reserved parking for Vets plus the first few rows of seating are reserved for Vets. Parking and admission to the Museum is free but donations to the Museum are greatly appreciated. The Museum’s Avro Lancaster & B-25 are scheduled to do a flypast for the service. Both aircraft are also scheduled to fly over services in Caledonia, Ancaster, Dundas, Hamilton & Stoney Creek. The service is being broadcast live across most of Canada by CHCH.

The Finch and I will also be flying over Dundas but this year we will have a Cornell along with us.
Once we are done there , we plan to drop in at CWH for a brief visit.

CHAA will be sending three Harvards to Toronto to fly with Hannu Halminen's Harvard over downtown and Sunnybrook Hospital.
Overhead Old City Hall around 11:06 and over Sunnybrook around 11:12.

We are also sending one Harvard to Woodstock to flyover their cenotaph with two of CHAT's Harvards and an 'RCAF' T-34.

Today I bought a "Grateful Nation Remebers WW2" flag which is now flying on the front of our house along with the MIA/POW flag. My grandchildren helped me place 25 smaller flags in the front yard.

From a Navy Veteran to all Veterans and Active Duty personnel - THANK YOU! Never forget what our Veterans did for us! To commemorate Veterans Day, here is video of P-47 Thunderbolt "Hun Hunter XVI", a F4U Corsair, AD5 Skyraider and the Tuskegee Airmen Red Tail P-51 Mustang in a Missing Man formation from the 2012 Indianapolis Air Show. Watching it in high-definition provides the best quality, so be sure to select the 1080p HD Video Playback Quality option and enjoy!

Thank you all for your service.

Yesterday, while marshalling at a small grass field fly-in I had the honor to meet a 91 year old B-29 driver who's still fit and flying. He taxiied in a little tricycle Cessna, made a crisp, 90 deg. turn and parked straight and square on the very blade of grass intended.
