Amazing bit of rare Australian war history - a full mission tape from the Vietnam War with Aussie flying the Canberra B.20 bomber callsign "magpie" on a nighttime bombing mission around the DMZ - tape audio is at bottom of the page in 2 parts - http://www.barrallierbooks.com/site/skyspot_mission

What a great listen. The professionalism of the crew when it counted and the relaxed banter between the crew was wonderful to listen to. Listening to the amount of chatter over the radio gives one an idea of how busy things could get when there were large ops going on. Thanks for posting this!!

I work as a volunteer dispatcher for our local park police. It's interesting to see how much of the military radio discipline "carried over" into the law enforcement world. When you see shows where someone is talking endlessly on the radio...well that just doesn't happen. Radio transmissions are kept as brief as possible, and communications are always acknowledged. The one difference is that the police dispatcher always gets in the "last word", usually by stating the time, "at 2310", for example.
