I can see a roadtrip coming up for FRIDAY :drinkers:

LONDON - CHICAGO and then up the shoreline of Lake Michigan a little bit.

I'm British, but I want to see a Felis silvestris

O'Hare to Oshkosh is only a 164 mile drive. If you can get up here, I'll give a you a grand tour of the EAA AirVenture Museum - archive areas, artifact storage, etc. Can probably get you in the cockpits of a couple of planes too. Just shoot me a PM if interested.

Wish you all the luck in the world seeing one unless you are going to a zoo, they are a long way past reclusive in the wilds, even State DNR or USFS Rangers have rarely seen one in the bush, you're more likely to hit POWERBALL or see a wolf pack in the wild, unless you're looking @ a 1969 large BUICK coupe or convertable.
Kind of a gnarley time of year to be tramping around in the Michigan area woods innit?

Oh, I think Mark's transport will be aquatic and powered.

December on Lake Michigan should be about like a Pommie summer. Hope you have a Wild time!

Did some online nosing around and find that Felis Silvestris is mostly an Asian and European cat and don't grow around here. We in N.America have a somewhat larger pair of felines, Lynx Rufus American Bobcat and Lynx Canadenis the Canadian Bobcat, both twice the size of Silvestris which is about large housecat sized+/- Having seen a Lynx up close, it's one danged impressive critter with huge claws on serious looking, very muscular legs. You might luck into seeing a very rare blue one
