Its all here-say but The word is that the facility is all built and ready to go but someone dropped the ball on obtaining permits so they are not allowed to perform any restoration work. I heard everyone is itching to get to work but frustrated that they can't.
I hope they can get the permit situation squared away so they can get back to doing what they do best.
Taigh, you hit it on the head. Thats actually whats going on. Nary a wrench has been turned on any plane in the new facility. I think its high time aircraft be sent out to other locals to be restored like the XP-55 at the Air Zoo. Otherwise it will take literally 100 years to restore everything they have.
Interesting. Somehow they have been able to assemble the JRS-1. This shot from the musuem's Facebook page shows a much more complete aircraft than when I saw it this spring... Did they do the work in another builiding? Or are they able to assemble thing, but need permits for painting, parts cleaning, etc?
