Hello,
I am trying to locate the B-17G my father in law flew 27 missions in during WWII. Does anyone know of any good websites that would list what happened to this B-17G? S/N 42 97931 "Madame Queen" Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve 8)

The book "The B-17 Flying Fortress Story - Design - Production - History" by Roger A. Freeman with David Osborne states the following concering this B-17: "delivered Denver 04/08/1944; to Kearney, NE? 05/04/1944; to Dow Fld, ME 05/21/1944; assigned to 401st BG, 613th BS as "IN Q" at Deenethorpe 06/01/1944; to 614th BS as "IW A"; returned to U.S. Bradley Field, CT 06/08/1945; to 4168th Base Unit, South Plains Fld, TX 06/10/1945; to Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC), Kingman, AZ 12/04/1945"

This plane was almost certainly broken up and scrapped at Kingman, Arizona.

Todd,
I presumed that is what happened to it. Just wanted to find out for sure. It would have been nice for my father in law to be able to see his old plane one more time.
Thanks,
Steve
