Saw this while driving through some of the beautiful Texas countryside after our church meeting yesterday... Don't know if it's on the Warbirds registry or not. A local young person said that he thought it'd been there for a while (8+ years). I don't know who owns it or exactly the address, thought it would be easy enough to find it again or point someone to it.

Don't know any details on the Texas Crusader but there was one in a field near Calhoun, GA for many years...this guy has a pic of it that he took last year:

http://www.ronbarrett.com/T-29D.htm

Scroll down a bit for the F8 (after reading about the plane he stopped to see)

A quick check of Joe Baugher's site reveals that the Georgia Crusader is on to a better fate:

Vought F8U-1 Crusader 145326

was at Calhoun, Mercer Air Field, GA for almost 30 years. Now with Evergreen Aviation to be restored.

Any idea of the complete serial on the Texas plane?

Dave

No, I don't have a serial number. The pictures you see are as close as I got. Don't know when I'll get back out that direction. The general location is north of Boerne and east of IH-10 near the Guadalupe River.

Too Bad somebody has been busy stripping the paint off the tail perhaps then we would of had a BuNo. Also noticed that there is no Modex # on the nose, might of faded off. Obviously she look like she last belong to Red Lightnings (VF-194) Lucky bastard. If I were to have a Jet Fighter in my backyard as a lawn orniment it would definatly be a F-8.
