Yes, aviation lore said that it was equipped with "big" engines R2000-4 or R2000-D5s?) courtesy of Eastern Air Lines and his frined Eddie Rickenbacker.
IIRC, he eventually replace it with a FH-227.

Also, IIRC, he lost his lecesne for awhile for buzzing the Newark tower in it. That led to a public feud with the CAA.
Also, I've read (probably here) that it was under restoration somewhere.
Sorry I don't know more, it was before my time.

Arthur Godfrey...This morning I went by the place outside of Leesburg, VA where he used to live. Place called
Paeonian Springs. Neither house nor runway are there anymore.

Him and that d--- ukelele. Made my skin crawl to hear it but my mother was an avid fan. Never missed a show.

Mudge the geezer

when my buddy was an air traffic controller he was in charge of godfrey's landing. godfrey demanded special treatment for his landing, etc. he was rude & mean to my buddy, but he had the last laugh. he kept godfrey in the holding pattern until he had an attitude adjustment.

And he gave Julius LaRosa his finish in show business, for which a lot of Arthur's audience turned on him.
