The other great formation at the show (by all the evidence I've seen) was Mosquito + 2x Vampire + Venom.

Thanks for posting that!

Another twin that needs to be added to this fantasy formation is the P-61! I wonder how different it will sound than the Tigercat?
If the Bolingbroke or Blenheim can keep up they can join too! :D

P-38 almost puts you in mind of a jet. You can hear the turbos first and the piston sound is almost an after effect as it passes.

It seems in the posted video that the P-40s got chucked around more than everyone else. Great stuff!

Here you go Errol,...

Sorry I missed most of the Venom, but I was a bit slow turning with the shot.

Here's another photo from Wairarapa last Saturday. About fourteen of the wartime Kiwi aircrew who flew the Mosquito were invited as honoured VIP's for the weekend. They all posed with Mossie display pilot Keith Skilling. Les Munro (in the blue sweater) is the only surviving member of the 617 Sqn Dambuster raid. Alan George (in the leather jacket on Keith's left) flew three complete night bomber tours, the last one being on the elite 'Pathfinders' flying Mosquitos. Considering the ages ranged from 91 to 97 it wasn't a bad turnout. Les managed to 'score' a ride in the Mossie afterwards. Big smiles all round.

Cheers

Barry

Thanks for Saturday's veteran photo. This post has one from Sunday, with some of them identified.

WIXers may also be interested in this podcast of interviews recorded at the event (by Dave Homewood), including Warren Denholm of AvSpecs (who took the video in the initial post) giving some detail on how the Mosquito is getting to Virginia Beach. Also Dave Phillips (pilot of the Anson) and Bill Reid (owner, with his wife Robyn, of the Anson), and others.
