Howdy

I just heard through the grape vine that Rob "Jungle Bob" Greinert , Murray Griffiths and Jerry Yagen are going after several P-38s in New Guinea. Does anyone know if this is correct and or to which P-38s these maybe ?

I think we would all be served better if we didn't speculate about this - A lot of money and effort goes into this sort of a thing and the area is very sensative. I would be the last person not to talk about a good rumor but in the case of PNG it is very dangerous and lawless and not good to be speculating where peoples well being could be at risk to say nothing of the possible risk of not seeing aircraft recovered.

Wang is a very open place and we will all get to know if anything happens very quickly.

Please don't take this post as criticism - it really isn't meant that way it's just that Iv'e seen too many good PNG deals fall over because of ill timed publicity - Swamp Ghost comes to mind - several times.

Kind regards
John

PS there are at least 3 P38s currently on the hanger floor at Wangarratta. All from PNG

If this is sensitive and could effect something really great from happening, then lets delete this post and come back to this subject later on after is is safe to talk about such things.

Well Chuck I guess it's here now and out of the bag - just need to not say too much and wait and see is how I would approach it.

Lightning has the right to say it but I would just hope we don't bugger it up by all talking about it till it/if it happens .

Regards
John P

Rumor has it, these P-38's have 2 engines that rotate in opposite directions.

Hopefully this won't tip off PNG.

Mike

Rumor also has it that these P-38s were built in America by a certain Lockheed company.

Hi Guys

To keep you happy with a few recovered P38 snaps of the Wangarratta wrecks - soon to be undergoing restoration to airworthy condition - at least 4 are scheduled to be built and 3 wrecks plus parts are currently present in this album plus all the other stuff including P39, P40, P38, A20 < L5 , Kingfisher etc

There is also an album taken today of the arrival of A20 Big Nig - a very famous A0 which is to be restored to airworthy condition

Regards
John P
