Joined WIX to seek any information on what happened to the B-24 (C-109 conversion) that was on display at Gastonia Municipal Airport in late 40's and early 50's. It was donated to the Piedmont Boy Scout Council by Gastonia businessman Allen Sims in memory of his son Albert who was killed in WWII flying a P-51 in China and was sold in the late 40's/ early 50's to a company (s) and eventually flown out to Central or South America to haul freight (rumored to be fish). The government sued the Boy Scouts for $10,000 because it violated the terms of its purchase which dictated it never be made airworthy and sold to a foreign entity. The suit was dropped for some reason in March of 1957 (found newspaper articles on the subject). Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
