Now I only have to come up with the balance of $2,999,999.99!!!!
At one point, I believe there were some plans to make this into a two-seater with dual controls.

I don't think this aircraft has flown much since it arrived (I live just a few miles away)... in fact, I can only think of a couple of flights which were made by John Lane after they did a bit of refurbishment. They had talked about doing a two seat conversion (with controls for the second pilot). In fact, they even worked with a Solidworks stress analysis guy from TriMech Solutions to make a viable design (I saw the design, as I had a class with him). They never went through with the conversion though. The company that owns it, OADS Aviation, were ostensibly using it as part of their flight testing fleet, but that was never seriously taken up either. Personally, I'd love to see her become more active again, and particularly if they could put her back in her Suez Crisis French Navy colors... which were pretty iconic, and spectacular.

There are, I would guess that the majority of the flying ones are two seats. I don't believe there are any dual controlled ones though.

From what I've seen, it would be very hard to get out of the back if you had to use a parachute. Harder then the P-51 or P-40.

MUCH harder to get in and out. We have a Corsair (124560) that reguarly comes to Wendover for our show that has a back seat. You have to climb in over the pilots seat and strap in, then the pilot folds the seat back into postion and climbs in. I guess not that much harder but you are certainly "in" the plane.

That's John Schafhausen. He was the owner/pilot of the plane from 1973-1983. Note this particular Corsair served as Robert Conrad's mount for many of his close-ups and taxi shots for the series. It's a pretty amazing time capsule from the show, even 35+ years later.

There are quite a few two seat Corsairs out there, but making a Corsair seat two people isn't the problem. It's making it a dual control two-seater that causes problems. There were plans for this Corsair to be just that. I don't believe there are any Corsairs with a second seat AND controls. Vought only built one, and never did another!

Sound a bit strange : 50 hours is a relatively high number for a collection plane, no ? . Looks the current owner try to find a easy way to continue to flight his plane without having to deal with the full list to issues.
Looks more a share ownership for me.
