"Gnat Chino california - This jet used to fly with the british Red Arrows as number 7 in their line up during the 1970's. It now lives in California. It wasn't the most comfortable to fly but ehh when you are flying at nearly 500mph (won't say where) who cares. This jet is also movie famous and appeared in the movie Hot Shots where it was covered in grey water based paint for filming at Palos Verdes".

Jon Cryer played Jim "Wash Out" Pfaffenbach, who was taken off flight ops for suffering from Walleyevision (which could have been cured with a delicate corneal inversion procedure called a multi-opti-pupil-optomy. But, in order to keep from damaging the eye sockets, they would've had to go in through the rectum. Ain't no man going to take that route with him!)

Pete "Deadmeat" Thompson was played by William "I'm in a jet, what could happen?" O'leary.

And of course "Topper" Harley was played by Charlie "WINNING!" Sheen (formerly of "Two and a Half Men," before throwing the highest-paying gig on TV out the window in a coke-fueled meltdown.)

Personally, I enjoyed "Hot Shots" far more than "Top Gun." But that may be just because I find Tom Cruise absolutely insufferable.

Both of those movies are just filled with great quotes from beginning to end

I think a lot of the ground Gnat shots actually used some of Tallichet's Indian Ajeet trainer versions of the Gnat. Tallichet had maybe 6 or 8 of them at Chino at one time.

In addition to one flyable Gnat T-1 (XR 980, N 936FC- soon to be relocated to Denver) and a trio of Gnat T-1 projects together with one of the largest collections of Gnat parts in the world, we also have 2 of the static display Gnats that were used in the filming of "HOTSHOTS".
One fuselage still has the fake "NAVY" markings and the other stencils that are very readable and the other has much more faded markings.
Unfortunately, we also have the remains of the Gnat that crashed on its way to Mojave to film "HOTSHOTS".
This crash is why in the film, 2 Gnats were flying in formation with an S211.

Actually, rather than being a Gnat, the aircraft on the left in this picture is one of the Ajeet fighters that were brought from India.
Rumor has it that they were shipped without the fuselage support trestle installed and the fuselages were twisted so much that the wings wouldn't fit.
I would love to see what other pictures you have.
