Hi All!

I saw a few posts on here that talked about Kermit Weeks doing his P-51A in memory of Dean. It is true, and he is doing Dean's "Super Snooper" paint scheme that he flew over Monte Cassino, Italy, where he earned the DFC he was awarded shortly before his death. Kermit asked me early last year if I had any pics of the "A" when Dean was in Italy..... Ah yeah, I have a few

I recall many of you telling me that maybe some day someone would paint a Mustang to honor Dean's accomplishments while he lived, and now it is happening! You can all say "I told you so" and you did, and I love you all for the faith you kept in this and the lengths so very many of you went to to honor Dean's memory. To say I am thrilled and honored and humbled by all of this is an understatement.

I have known since all of this first began that Dean knows what I have attempted to do, and now I believe my Dad is with him and they are very very happy! It will be 11 years this summer that the pieces of Dean's B were recovered from Lake Louisa. How amazing is it that Kermit Weeks was the one that did the flyover at the Ceremony for Dean in November, 2001?Here is a link to Kermit's blog that details and shows pics from a year ago.

So, now I have yet another chapter to add to this incredible journey I have been on. I will try to pop in once in awhile and let you all know where things are at as time goes on. Life is wonderful, and I am truly blessed.

Karen

Great to see you back and very pleased at such great news - all good things come to those that wait (once and a while anyway!)

Kudos to Kermit for this neat tribute to Dean- long may it fly.

Dave

Karen, I was hoping you would start a new thread on this subject to share your good news.
8) Congratulations, I look forward seeing the aircraft when it's done.

Yes, Kermit Weeks is a class act all the way!! I too, can't wait to see this plane when it is finished!! If you follow the link to Kermit's blog there are some pictures of the plane from early 2012. In retrospect, THIS is the honor that was meant for Dean to be remembered by. Not the plane he died in, but the one he SOARED in. I am in awe of all the amazing people in this little corner of the world, and I thank God for each one every day!
