The topic on the TBM dataplate prompted me to search for an old thread concerning locations for data plates on T-6s. I would love to see pictures of installed dataplates, closeup and from a distance showing the location.

Anyone posting pics or info, I will send instructions on how to enter the NMNA in Pensacola or the NMUSAF in Dayton, FOR FREE! If you are in the UK I can send instructions on how the enter the RAF museum in Hendon, again FOR FREE!

Here is one of the SNJ-5 based in France near Blois (LFOQ).

Don't forget the additional tag on the upper roll cage of a T-6G, as that will have the original serial to confirm the airframe's previous life (AT-6D, etc).

I don't know about the rules in France but if those are the only 2 dataplates in that aircraft it wouldn't be legal to fly in the U.S. since neither of those are legal manufactures dataplates identifying that airframe.

What did the SNJ A/C have next to the NAA Data Plate when it left the factory.
The AAC had the USAAC plate and those pictured have the PCola Dataplates but those would have been added at a PCola O/H or Depot level of deep maint.

Thanks everyone for postiong. I will dig through the side panel parts tomorrow but I'm pretty sure there is no longer a data plate installed. I can order replacement blanks but without some research assistance I can't identify contract number or date.

I appreciate the photos.

If you have a S/N it should be painless to figure out the rest assuming it isn't foreign Built.

Not sure if you were interested in Harvard dataplate locations, but here's a shot for you:

Image

Originally on the Mk II they were mounted on the 'glovebox door' below the instrument panel, but were moved to the side of the cockpit when they were refurbished by Can-Car postwar.

Do only the G's have the former life serial number up on the upper roll cage cap when they went to Columbus?

I don't have the canopy off my SNJ-5 but I can see feel at an angle that it has text on the right side of the roll cage cap and there is a plate on the left side of the cap as well... and again this is an SNJ-5 and has been in the family since my Dad got it from a guy who had got if rom the military.

My G frame I still haven't been able to track down what it became after Columbus. I have the research card of when it went to Columbus but not any way to trace back to Columbus. I should order a few G research data cards from Washington and see if they list what it was. And if so go look at all of them and try to track it backwards.
