NASM has put up a list of aircraft, parts and materials to be deaccessed. There are some real goodies here looking for the right home.

See <http://airandspace.si.edu/collections/transfer/list.cfm>

I hope Planes of Fame can get the Japanese engines to go with their Betty and Raiden displays.

This one and the one after it look like QEC packages - can anyone ID the aircraft they would fit?

And of course I have to ask - does "maintain them in the public domain" include flying them? No, I don't mean the missiles, I meant the Bellanca, or the H-34...

And finally, the most intriguing and historically important item on the list:

Man, lots of rocket motors.
There's 2 WW2 bazooka rockets, those are getting scarce.
Lot of USAF full and partial pressure suits. Drool.....
That Caberra bomber would be cool, too.

My guess is that "public domain" means museums, but that that would not preclude museum or foundatoin-supported flyers. Also, while NASM may not simply give to a private individual, I would think that trades would be possible.

Note that there is a bunch of Junkers Jumo and Japanese engines in this list. And these are not wreckoveries. There is some good stuff here. I hope that NASM gets at the very least some good will out of this.
