12 O'Clock High The series

For those of you in the DC metro area and anyone else that has access to the ME Tv Network ( An oldies retro TV network)- they are showing episodes of 12 o'clock high every night at 4 am.

Thank god we have DVR's :drink3:

I heard somewhere that if a guy were to go to a torrent site he could get them all and have them available for viewing whenever he wanted. Just somethin' i heard somewhere.

I bought the complete TV series on DVD off the internet. I can watch 'em any time!

They've been on for awhile. The network is een around the country....so check your local lstings. here' it's on the ABC affiliate's digital channel as well as cable, so even if you don't have cable you might be able to see it.
I started watching (recording) them about halfway through the first season...which is where they are again in the rotation of episodes.

It was fun, a bit better than I remembered it as a kid.
They at least try to get it right (which more than can be said for other TV shows and films)...they throw some 8th AF jargon (PDI and "flimisies") into the episodes and recreate historic events...like the shuttle raids to the USSR (that episode featured the real group commander as a 8th AF general), the introduction of the Mustang and other events.

Yes, you can (and probably will) gripe about all the stock footage...so codes don't match, occasionally Mustangs, Thunderbolds and (from a distance) Spitfires become enemy fighters, but all in all, they did a good job. Remember, it was designed to be viewed on a 19-21 inch TV set, not my 54-inch Sony...so errors are easy to spot today.

They taxied the POF Fortress, but never seemed to fly it in the series, later they did fly a Mustang.

Great show, Enjoyed the reruns as a kid, and still enjoying them as a middle-aged codger.

Who was the best CO - Lansing or Burke?

Lansing...but Burke was better than I really expected (I didn't see many of his episodes the first time around...probably past my bedtime).
What's interesting...the first shot of the first episode is a medium close up of Burke...as problem child Capt. Gallagher.

In a scene straight out of the film, Savage makes him CO of the Leper Colony, and gives him a good dressing down. Gallagher, the sone of a 3-star has already lost two brothers in the war "that's just getting warmed up" and is in no hurry to be gung-ho.

Later in the season, he's back as a Major (a squadron commander, I think) who loses a a childhood friend and out of guilt tries to marry he buddy's English girlfriend when she tells him she's expecting his friend's child.

In the first episode of the second season, he's a Lt Col and made CO.
I was afraid he's be something like Shatner (as an actor) and kirk (as a character), but he did okay. In fact, Savage had more relationships with women than Gallagher did in his episodes.
