A member of our museum was down in Daytona a few weeks ago and he's said he saw a B-17 and a b-25 sitting next to each other at the New Symrna Beach Airport. The B-25 was Tondelayo but the B-17 was not Nine-0-Nine which he would know since he helped restore it. He said it was stripped down to bare metal and appeared to have yellow on it or previously on it and was lacking any markings at least on the one side. This was in the area were the CF park there planes as the C47 was right next to them as well.

The only one I can think of that matches this would be Chuckie, but I can't find any info on an update for chuckie, so I'm assuming it's still in Virginia. On google earth i didn't see any extra B-17's there, so it makes me think this plane had to be flying. Tough he said it looked really rough round the edges.

Any ideas?

Chuckie was at the Tico airshow, so maybe it stopped at New Symrna enroute.

I was at MAM on Sunday and they said Chuckie was in Florida. That's what you probably saw.

Yup, that was Chuckie getting a bit of work done at American Aero. Some pics of her on American Aero Services facebook page on March 4th.

I was at New Smyrna Beach Airport during Bike Week and Chuckie was parked there along with B-25 Tondelayo, an old DC-3 in National Airlines colors that needs work as well as a TBM all parked at American Aero.

Thanks for the info guys. So it was indeed Chuckie and the pictures of the work being done would explain why he said it looked like it was "under restoration" due to rather heavy maintenance being performed. Im in love with that radio room.

They told him we could have the C47 if we wanted it, but we just got one lol. Based off of pictures, that C-47 will probably never fly again from corrosion.

Anyone know who's/what TBM that is/was there?

That is some really nice looking work being done there.
If I was a warbird I think I'd want to live at Gerry Yagens place
I know the Hospers did a LOT to bring Chuckie as far as they did. I'm sure they would be pleased to see such attention lavished on her.

I think those pictures on the link are from 2011 which is when Chuckie was first bought by Yagen.

I believe the website shows the work that was done the first time Chuckie was there. Chin turret, ball turret, and new waist pos were all added in 2011. There are some other things being done this time. They do great work down there, and we're looking forward to having her back at the MAM.
