Early B-17 G waist gun photos please?

Mon Apr 22, 2013 5:53 am

Hi guys - can I enlist the help of the experts again...

I'm looking for any and all photos of unstaggered waist gun positions on early B-17Gs and late B-17Fs, both inside and outside the aircraft.

Any similar photos for the 'stinger' tail gun position would be greatly appreciated - links would be fine too

Your help is much appreciated 8)

Here are some closeups of the tail gunner's station of 'My Gal Sal.' She's a B-17E, but I don't think the tail gun was changed until the 'Cheyenne Turret' was introduced. Note: the interior is (correctly) bare metal. It only appears green in some spots due to being seen through the armored glass windows.

I don't really have any detail shots of the enclosed, unstaggered waist positions, but here's an interior view of 'Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby' at the USAF Museum. Note: The green paint is incorrect...on production B-17s the area aft of the radio room was almost all bare metal.
