Great shots Bill! I will be doing my utmost to catch the Collings fleet while they are at Glendale next week. Can't wait to see the 262 for sure.

Great pics! With some of those angles you can really see why the aircraft was nicknamed the "Swallow". Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful machine indeed. Pity they don't finish the paint job. One marking missing. We need historical accuracy not hysterical accuracy!

Invader 26, this has been discussed and explained many times. There is NO revisionist history. The judge who donated the aircraft to the Foundation was Jewish, he decided that HE didn't want the Swastika applied. Out of deference to his wishes the Foundation elected to hold off adding it until after the big party in Scottsdale that was held last Friday. Eventually it will be added to the present scheme.

Beautiful airplane.

Has the pilot (or pilots) commented on how it flies?

Yes, gorgeous, but it also looks toothless in the two-seat configuration.

I understand that the revenue it will generate will help the foundation, but if they wanted a back seat they might have put a more logical Night Fighter scheme on it.

I'd love to see it painted in gray/black with a fake radar array on the nose. A real "Mosquito Killer."

The Foundation did not pick the current scheme. It was painted in Seattle, long before it was donated. An inordinate amount of money was expended to make the aircraft systems as reliable as they are. Making the aircraft a daily flier was the primary focus.

No kiddin' ! While we bemoan the fact that it's a two seater, doesn't look right unless it's a night fighter and doesn't carry the Swastika, we lose sight of the fact that it is now the highest time ME 262 and that it is flying in the 21st Century. It wasn't that long ago that the only place you could see one was in a museum where it would remain forever flightless !

Has there ever been a write-up or perfromace chart created for this "new" machine? VMO, VNE, Rate of Climb, etc.?

Mike the aircraft went through a complete test program, flown by John Penney. A complete official pilot's manual was created, with real numbers.
