Planes of Fame has announced the theme for the May 4-5, 2013 annual warbird ir show: P-38 Lightnings.

https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:CampaignP ... aa65a13fea

I hope they are able to get at least FIVE P-38's to fly in the show so they can exceed the FOUR put in the air at the California Capital Air Show a few years back. With luck maybe they can actually get a full half dozen in the air!

Look forward to the show and a wide variety of warbirds from all eras. It would really be nice if the Yanks Air Museum could get there EC-121T Warning Star/Super Connie in the air for this show. Several months back Yanks had indicated they hoped to return it to the air to fly at some shows.

Unfortunately a Korean War theme seems to be a non-starter with warbird shows in 2013. It seems like it would make a great theme.

Well hopefully Chino will feature a Korean War segment with at least a Sabre, two T-33's, a MiG-15, maybe a Skyraider and a couple of others.

They have done it in the past. Even back into the 80s/90s.
I'm sure it will come back again.

This is one that I've been keen on for years as "one to try for". 4-6 lightnings in the air? Very enticing :D 8)

4's been done, so hopfully it will be 5 or 6. If anyplace can do it, Planes of Fame at Chino should be the one.

I can't help but wonder how far off any of the P-38 projects at Westpac are from completion at this time? :D Would be neat to see a new one 'on the scene' at the show.

It would be a welcomed sight to see the beautiful P-38 "Tangerine" from Tillamook fly down for that weekend (considering "Ruff Stuff", if it were to make it out to California again (like it did for the Capital Air Show a few years ago), has an even longer trek to get there). I also can't help but vicariously ponder at the possibility that if a few sponsors/crew were to get together something could maybe get worked out with Yanks to get their F-5 Lighting flying for this event (and the 2013 season perhaps). I recall it was rolled out onto the static ramp at one of the POF airshows a number of years back. Even though it is considered 'airworthy' in essence, I'm sure it would take a fair amount of time however to go through it and get it ready for flight, if that were to ever happen. Only thinking out loud...

My brother-in-law and I were headed from Phoenix to the Capital City show the Friday before the P-38 gathering and decided to swing by Chino on the way. So glad we did!

Fine news as far as I am concerned!

I only wish for a sub-theme, "early P-40s". Just 2 would be satisfactory, thank you.

My calender has been marked, highlighted, and what-not!!!

Saw on Facebook that Rob Harrison and "Tumbling Bear" will be back at the show this year. A fine perfomer and a great civilian/non-warbird aerobatic pilot, Rob is an asset to an air show. But hopefully this type of performance will be limited in the show schedule, since Planes of Fame Chino is about warbirds and vintage aircraft!

Looking forward to the show in less than 4 months now!

Has anyone seen or heard any news if the Horsemen are doing any airshows this year ? Just curious - thought it would be cool to see a 3 ship of P-38's or even the F-86's at Chino... This will be my first time going to the show and I already can't wait... Come on May !!!
Thanks, Mike
