For those of you that keep track of such things, the museum's new name is Barksdale Global Power Museum http://barksdaleglobalpowermuseum.com

I have to wonder if this is another step in the process of name inflation: Why be a "national museum" whne you could be a "global museum"?

So, the smaller the museum with more aircraft that are detereorating outside the more reason to justify it all with a bigger name?

I am one who belives that words should mean things, so let me propose the following:

> 100 aircraft well maintained and indoors = "national museum"
< 100 aircraft with many valuable aircraft outdoors = "global museum"
< 25 aircraft, all outdoors = "galactic museum"
a few aircraft outdoors are displayed as rusted fragments = "intergalactic museum"
aircraft broken into disassociated elements and molecules = "universal museum"

Sounds like a pretty darn good idea to me :drink3: :drink3:

I suspect it has more to do with avoiding confusion with the Savannah Museum

Why not trump them all and call your operation, "God's museum of airplanes and dirty old OD green stuff"? :drink3:

The Air Force Global Strike Command is based at Barksdale AFB, thus the name.

THANK YOU Rob! "Global Reach" has been a buzz phrase in the USAF for some time .... now back to unpainted wheel wells and why that B-24 at the Global Museum continues to corrode.
