Hi,

I have finally booked to visit Oshkosh from the UK for the first time and was wondering whether anyone could give me any advice and tips as well as any ideas of the costs of drinks and snacks on site to make the most of my trip.
I'm planning to spend the week there and take in as much as I can.

Many Thanks

I'll give you a ring (or maybe pop over to Hardwick) at some point in the next couple of months Chris.

Make sure you look at the daily programmes for the likes of Warbirds in Review in the Warbird parking area and the talks over at the Museum. Some fascinating speakers, it is well worth making the effort to attend some of these sessions.

Other than that, drinks and snacks are not outrageously priced and there are plenty of outlets.

Make sure you take the bus over to the seaplane base at some point during the week too.

And take a good pair of comfortable shoes. In the course of the week, you will walk many, many miles!

You are going to love it. I'd bring;
A couple of pairs of comfortable shoes
Sunscreen
Lip balm
A hat
Windbreaker or hoodie
Back pack with snacks and water

Where are you staying

Drinks (water, lemonade, iced tea) and snacks (cookies, pretzels, etc.) are free to all attendees at the EAA Courtesy tent. It's not particularly well-advertised, but it's located about halfway between the Main Gate and North Warbird ramp. On the linked grid map, it's located at L8 (where the number "58" is printed).

Drinking fountains are also located throughout the grounds.

Just some 'interesting to know' info- in the baking aisle of the supermarket you will find boxes of 'TRUE LEMON' 'TRUE LIME' and, if you're lucky 'TRUE ORANGE' (for some reason always in short supply). Inside are 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 foil envelopes of powdered citrus used for baking. However, one packet will flavor a 16 oz bottle of water. They take up zero space, weigh nothing and they keep your electrolytes up, stuff ya learn when you ride a touring motorcycle and have to pack reasonably. Lots of gas stations will let you refill a bottle with water from the drinks machine for free so you just saved $2.50 or so, just tote an empty but sturdy bottle

And don't forget to consult http://eaaforums.org/forumdisplay.php?3 ... re-Oshkosh
Every year dozens of newcomers post enquiries there, which all tend to be dutifully answered.
