And best wishes from the UK!

A USAF colonel who unveiled our memorial to the 24 killed in a B-24 crash near Liverpool (four ferry crews) said in his short speech. "We may have our differences at times but we are still family". I think that sums up US/Brit relations very well!

A great choice of film clip, Dan! Now here's a 1943 entry from the Operations Record Book for RAF Station Llanbedr (where THAT P-38 was trying to land):

July 3rd 2359hrs Eve of Independence Day USAAF officers were entertained in the mess and toasts were drunk. The din was so great that the station pony and trap made a getaway. They were found unhurt on one of the dispersal sites.

July 4th Independence Day. Celebrations continue all day.
