July 27th / 28th Only!
Aviation Museum Collection Shuffle!
July 27th and 28th starting at 9:00am the Alberta Aviation Museum is making a rare floor layout change which involves most of the aircraft that are normally inside being moved outside to re arrange them.
Photographers, this is a rare chance to see the collection outside in natural light with the airport and Edmonton’s skyline in the background. Bring your cameras!
For everyone else it is a living museum event that will show just how much effort and how complex a move of this scale is. Even the hanging exhibits have to be lowered for this move!
The Museum remains open through the change...regular hours 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday with volunteers on hand and special fencing brought in to keep things safe. Regular admissions apply.
Unfortunately a move of this scale means the Boeing 737 will be closed for tours this weekend and the Sabre Jet will be closed.
This is a major step in the “New Look” of the Alberta Aviation Museum that will be unveiled at the Starfighter “Roll Out” Ceremony August 17th.
If you are a Museum member or member of one of the organizations in our building, we are looking for additional volunteers to help with the move and as security to keep everyone safe during the move.
