Navy Nose Number Sizes in the Early 1950s?

Hi guys,
I was just wondering what size the numbers usually were on the noses of navy aircraft in the late '40s and early '50s? ..especially F4U's.

Google images for the Navy types your interested in will give you the selection. Early side numbers differed type to type and unit to unit from my observation.
