Fantastic collection. I am lucky enough to work on a CAC Mustang and love the history.

Do you have relatives who worked on or piloted Mustangs?

Great pics.

Note the RAAF Mustang with both RAAF fuselage/fin markings and the USAAF star and bar under the right wing!

Nice seeing the postwar use of the prewar-proportioned roundel with the 1:3:5 proportions (sometimes called "Type A" by spotters).

I have read that after the war, the UK Air Ministry's intention was to revert to this prewar roundel with the wartime low-viz ones no longer needed, but the order that was issued got the proportions wrong, erroneously giving us the 1:2:3 "Type D" roundel we know today.

Wonderful stuff. I lunched last week with Air Vice Marshall Jim Flemming who flew Mustangs in Japan/Korea and was on the first mission flown by 77 Sqn. He's 86 not out and was on a boat cruise drinking plenty of red!
