Pioneer Flight Museum - having its 2013 Fall Fly-in Nov. 9th

Wed Nov 06, 2013 3:35 pm

The Pioneer Flight Museum AKA "Old Kingsbury" will be having it's Fall Flight Day this coming Saturday in Kingsbury, TX. It's just north of I-10 not too far from Seguin.

Old timey airplanes, cars and motorsickles (As my friend pronounces it) ! Weather should be great!

I am trying to screw my gumption up to fly the PT-26 over there.
If I don't get too distracted Friday night I will.

I'm camped at PFM now, can report the runway in good shape and all else coming together nicely (fresh porta-cans this morning, oh boy!). Hope y'all can make it -- and be sure to say howdy to the guy with a bowler hat and cigar driving a Model T, I'd be pleased to meet you.

I couldn't make it out there this weekend. What did I miss?

You missed one of the best shows ever, that's what. :D

Seriously, we started off with unexpected damp weather early in the morning which caused much concern, but it quickly burned off and became a fine day. We got more fly-in guests than ever -- if not a record then at least right on up there. And for the third event in a row several vintage car clubs made PFM an event of their own, which certainly meets with approval from one and all. Looks like herds of Model T's and assorted other old timey cars, classic cars, and cool street rods are going to be part of future events as they seem to enjoy it as much as the rest of us. Had a good turnout of reenactor/living historian types who set up a vintage camp with displays of period gear and light weapons. Even had a helicopter join in too, a lovely Bell 47, and yes, I hitched a ride in it -- a very nice way to go! The Canuck and Dr.I both lept skyward. It was a great show with a big attendance, everything worked, and nothing broke. :supz:

If I can get someone to provide some pics I'll post 'em, I was kept far too busy to even think about my camera.

I wimped out because the weather brief was reporting rain and the radar at aviationweather was confirming it during my projected arrival time.

Please post some pictures so I can feel REALLY bad.

I'm the guy in the bowler hat driving the "Hannibal Hornet." Got that sucker up to 45 mph once (caught a tail wind).

Don, you should stop believing everything you see on the internet, lol.

Boy did I screw up by not making it out. Biplanes, a Bleriot, Model T's, a Packard and early motorcycles. I got sidetracked the day before, and was busy Saturday trying to unload that which got me sidetracked off of the trailer.

Here's a neato video made at the 2013 PFM Fall Fly-In, pretty good job of capturing engine sounds:
