Let us never forget the soldiers fighting to hang on for their lives in the Ardennes, Belgium some 69 years ago today. Of course history would call this battle, The Battle of the Bulge.

Pat, if I remember correctly, this battle was the only time my dad flew multi missions on the same day.

....and the first combat mission for Republic P47D-28-RA 229150 'Dottie Mae' of the 511FS, 405FG 9AF. Went onto participate in nearly 100 combat missions and damaged 3/4 times. Being restored to fly at Airframe Assemblies in ID. About 1 year left so maybe this time next year - 70 Anniversary of first mission :D
