I think the problem was that they couldn't get the wings off in the swamp without torch cutting the fittings.

Pretty historic event that is taking place in that this B-17E was accepted by the US Army on Dec. 6, 1941, the day before the Pearl Harbor attacks. Now it sits on the very land where the US was brought into the war.

The wings have the crap beat out of them. Holes, bent out of shape, chopped, you name it. I have a bunch of pics from mid-november if someone could guide me how to post them.
