Guys,

Rob has called me and asked me to post this message on his behalf:

He is moving to a new residence, so his internet and telephone access will be hit and miss probably until next Monday. He asked that those of you who want to contact him, either leave a message (while his telephone number is re-routed or re-whatever, he will have voice mail).

He says he hopes to be back in the swing of things by Monday next week.

Saludos,

Tulio

Hi, Don!

My voice mail box indicates 8:15 PM; I did not hear his call, because I was at WalMart, and for whatever reason, my phone doesn't work there at all. Time then should be 9:15 Mooselover's state time : )

Saludos,

Tulio

your phone doesn't work their because ole wally world walmart probably owns the cell phone air waves, like they own everything else. they are getting out of hand in this country, monopolizing everything, ruining the free enterprise system, putting every mom & pop or private business owner out of business, as well as driving manufactoring off shore, namely in china!! best, tom

Danger, I am going off topic!!!! Opinion follows...

Whoa! So through the use of free enterprise, they have ruined free enterprise?

Please don't blame Wal-Mart just because all your friends go there rather than to the local mom and pop shop. The customers run the mom and pop shops out of business via their shopping habits, not the other way around.

The same complaints were proffered when Sears started doing mail order 100 years ago and when e-commerce started.

I wonder if the local lumber yard complained about this?

Good point bdk, but you gotta admit that Walmart is "ruthless" when it comes to merchanidising. I personally don't shop there for that very reason not that I seek out only "made in USA" items. yeah, try to find many these days :x

It does come down the consumer. If they don't shop there, then Wally is out of business. Problem is shortsighted at best, ignorance, or people just don't care.

regards,

t~

I suspect that their stockholders demand that they maximize their return on investment.

Trade can only occur when a buyer and seller both perceive a benefit. This applies to the entire process from manufacturing to retail.

My wife doesn't shop their because she generally doesn't like the quality of the clothing. They do have good prices on name brand synthetic oil however so some of you conspiracy theorists should be happy that "greedy" Wal-Mart is "taking advantage" of the "greedy" oil companies...

I hate reiterating a rant but, HERE! HERE! I haven't set foot in a
WALLY WORLD/SAMS CLUB in several years! And I can still get all the cheap Chinese/Third World products I want(Even Martha Stewert! at K-Mart   ) and they don't try to pretend that their employees are overpaid, overbenefited and HAPPY ABOUT IT![Rant Over!]
Back to the origonal subject
I remember that time difference, Tulio, from my days in the Texas/Okiehoma area(Altus AFB,OK). And how is the Giant Armadillo these days??! I used to love his work on the Lone Star Beer Comercials! Any Critter who could swill a whole beer truck full of Lone Star(The National Beer of Texas!) can't be all bad!  But I think I prefer to cuddle with my moose anyway!
Don
By the way, I spoke to the Kernal last night and he has just about compleated his move and will be back soonest.
Finest Kind!
Don

As put so succintly by the rock band AC/DC:

"Lock up your daughter, lock up your wife,
Lock up your back door, and run for your life;

The man is back in town..."

Welcome back, Rob.
