This Albatros of the Royal Prussian Jasta 29 was flown by Rudolf Clausz. On Dec 17, 1917 while attacking an RE 8 from No. 3 Squadron AFC it was damaged and crash landed behind enemy lines near Ploegsteert Wood, Belgium. Clausz and his plane were then captured by Australian soldiers.

I saw this plane on display at the War Memorial in Canberra last Nov.

Sadly no, I train guide dogs for the visually impaired so that's 7 days a week. Last time I saw the D.Va would have been late 70's and then again in 1988

I applaud Kermit for his love of the WW1 aircraft.That is some really beautiful stuff for sure.Wish he was fired up about the WW2 planes as much.

so I guess Kermit's two P-51's, B-26 Marauder, A-26 Invader, B-25 Mitchell, B-24, etc etc etc isn't enough commitment for some.

Fantasy of Flight has a well balanced collection covering WW1, between the wars [civil & military] WW2 and post war.... :supz:

Air-to-air would have been cool, but it was ground-to-air. Well, standing at the top of the stand at Classic Fighters 2011, Omaka, NZ, which is fairly tall. The nice scenic hills in the vicinity (check out Wither Hills wines) of the circular airfield have the added bonus of keeping many shower clouds out of the valley.

Next Omaka show is Easter 2015, if you want to start planning!

The AWM now has a Peter Jackson/TVAL short film using TVAL reproductions and CGI playing in their aircraft hall, pretty neat.
