Thunder Over the Valley

Wed Apr 02, 2014 1:32 pm

Has anyone heard anything about what might be appearing at this show in Vienna, OH, besides the Thunderbirds? They did this show a few years ago and it wasn't bad, for a small show. If I remember correctly Yankee Lady, Cincinnati Miss, a Corsair and a PV2 (Hot Stuff i think) were all there. Also, the C-117 demo, which was awesome!

Not bad again. Nice to see the full complement of Yankee's planes there. Also nice to see that they have a website and Facebook page this year.

Yep...we were there with "Hot Stuff". It was a fun show and great crowd.

It was about 90 degrees that day and when i walked through Hot Stuff, I had sweat pouring off of me. I couldn't imagine how hot it was in there, over the Pacific, at low levels! Great plane and the gentleman that gave my father and I the tour was very nice.

Thanks Jeff...glad to hear that you and your father enjoyed it. You know it isn't an airshow if it's not about 9 billion degrees outside! The people of Youngstown were very nice. I'm glad they are having their airshow again.

Youngstown and Pittsburgh previously would have a show every other year so they would not conflict.

YNG had their last show in 2009
PIT had one in 2010
YNG declined the show in 2011, so Pit had one again
2012 would have been PIT, but due to the 911th being deployed, the show was canceled
2013 should have been YNG, but they did not have one nor did PIT due to the uncertainty of the 9-11th's future.
2014 should be PIT's year, but they again canceled the show for this year and YNG Is having one instead.

We will be attending with our C-123. I'm not sure if either have been requested or not, but it could be possible for the C-47 or L-21 to show up as well.
