Can anyone confirm who owns Dick Thurman's ex-P-40K? He sold it, right?

Yes Tom Blair is the new owner. As soon as Tom Blair took delivery he had the livery changed from its familiar Aleutian Tigers scheme into a more traditional sharks mouth livery. We ran this Tom Smith photo with details in Classic Wings Vol.12, No.1.

Guys spend thousands of hours building these things and customers insist on a good job and it has to be authentic.And as original as posable Who painted it Vincent Van Gogh.Looks like a plastic Leprica.

With all due respect to the new owner and his right to paint his aircraft whatever scheme he likes, I must say ouch, that really hurts. Takes me back to Air Classics 1976...

Of course Mr. Blair is to be congratulated on having the nads and the dough to buy a P-40 and paint it whatever colour he likes, so no offense intended and all apologies if any occured, just the personal opinion of an aviation enthusiast who has watched with great pleasure as restorations/paint schemes have become more and more accurate every year.

You have to admit, though, that all it needs now is some of those bullet hole stickers in a neat row behind the cockpit....

Of course Mr Blair can paint it how he likes, I have to agree though, Pioneer went to great lengths to paint it in its original Aleutian scheme and it looked spectacular...IMHO there are enough painted in the AVG colours that have nothing to do with that particular aircraft..especially when it is a K.

So not only was the "Aleutian Tiger" scheme beautifully done and wholly accurate, it was also authentic to this aircraft? Double ouch with frosting and sprinkles. Kinda pushes this new scheme into sacrilege territory, to get dramatic for a moment...then again, it isn't mine and its only paint.
