From a post at AAFO about P-63's modified during the early 70's FWIW-
I've seen a few photos of the pretty green and polished aluminum N73744, another P-63C with serial 44-4181. It was originally Frank Singer's Bendix racer #53 between 1947-49, and was with Bruce Madison, of Phoenix, AZ, between 1963-1968. It apparently crashed near Chicago in June 1968.

Interesting to see the Vals; did the US ever capture an intact example (or assemble one) for testing? The Japanese POW still wearing his uniform cap in a seemingly casual pose with the Americans is a surprise as well.

In the picture of the Me 262 at Munich.....I see the 262 has an odd bulge on the nose and it looks like the gun ports are covered over....What was this? was it a recon version or something else?
