Gallup, NM (yesterday 11/03) cold and very, very windy!

Today, went early in the morning to Goodyear, AZ but other than a truckload of airliners stored, and a Douglas Tetramotor (possibly a DC-..._) too far for me to clearly see... nothing else. The Lufthansa Beechcrafts were all there, one or two already taken off, others warming engines up.

These two are from Gila Bend:

And, while at El Centro, saw a trio of USMC Harriers overhead and also a CH-53.

Chino, Lindbergh field and whatever else I can manage to see in a couple of days next week, are planned.

Saludos,

Tulio

Hey Tulio, if you're going to be in the Phoenix area again let me know. I'd be happy to show you around and can probably take you to a couple of airframes you probably won't find if you don't know where to look. Regards, Chad Veich.

PS - The Douglas at Goodyear is a DC-7C, one of the few that retains its airline interior.

Hey, Chad!

Honestly, I thought about PM'ing you, but my stay was overnight only; I will try to make a longer stop on the way back, time-permitting; I am going to be bringing back an engine mount for my PT-19.

Thank you for id'ing the DC-7.

Saludos,

Tulio

If you can make it to Chino on Saturday, it is event day and the N9MB Northrop Flying Wing will launch around noon or 1:00.

Hey Tulio: If you are going to make a special trip just to pick up that engine mount, I can save you some effort. I'm headed back to Chandler to complete the disassembly and loading of my Aero Commander the week of Thanksgiving. Things are going to be packed a bit, but there will be room. That way you would only have to pop up to Weatherford to pick it up.

Thank you for your kind offer.

Problem is, I never know where I will go next; I could very well be planning to go back home (As I was just two days ago, and planned to go to Midland to pick up some parts . . . and ended up heading 180deg from my intended direction).

At the same time, I want to meet Fritz and also look at some of the airfields and displays that I have heard so much about for so many years : )

Chino, here I come! Not this saturday though, since I have to work . . .

Saludos,

Tulio

Tulio, any idea what day you'll be out at Chino? Maybe I'll take the day off to buy you lunch...

Yeeech! I wouldn't take my worst enemy to Flo's... Well, maybe I would, but only if I didn't have to go in.

Although the dead flies on the window sills do add to the "atmosphere" <SHUDDER>

Brandon:

I will know my schedule probably tomorrow, and then I can make plans based on my days off.

Even if it is just to shake your hand -forget about lunch- it will be my pleasure.

Saludos,

Tulio

Hi Tulio,
I could make it out to Chino this week (except Tuesday) - let me know!
-Chris
P.S. Flo's does have really good peach cobbler a la mode, but don't touch the chicken fried steak! To quote Lucille Ball: "Food always tastes different there - I don't know what they do to it!" :vom:
