The two place Mk 26 is being reproduced from original Mk 5 plans and is fully aerobatic. The Mk 26 is sold in quick build form with a building time of 1,000 to 1,200 hours. All major components are factory built. The Mk 26 has a cruise speed range from 170 mph to over 200 depending on the engine and prop. The stall speed is 50 mph with a 10 to 1 glide ratio. Supermarine Aircraft currently has 21 aircraft flying world wide. The kit is approved in the US under the FAA experimental 51% rule. Excuse me, but what the hell is an "authentic reproduction" please?

And looking at the pictures, I very much doubt that it "is being reproduced from original Mk 5 plans" either.

Whatever this thing is, it isn't a Spitfire. :x

PS You might have gathered that I don't like these 'wannabe warbirds' trying to pass themselves off as something that they aren't. Each to their own, I suppose.

Aw c'mon Mike! Lighten up a little and let some folks (me included) dream. Looks like a fun bird to me. I enjoyed looking over the website and seeing some of the construction details.

I've been involved in a full scale Jurca Spitfire and an NA-50 project. While not "real" fighters, I learned a lot from each. I have also worked on more than my share of "real" warbirds.
