Thanks Craig.
I did inspect the aircraft, and submitted an estimate to repair it.
I know what it was worth before the accident, and I know what
it would cost (now) to repair it. I realize I'd have to give detailed
information about the nature of the damage to this particular airplane
to get an accurate estimate as to the salvage value, but I'm not
inclined to do that just right now for a variety of reasons....
In a nutshell, I know of the Bowlin T-6G that Yeager ground-looped
(it sold via salvage closed bid) and another T-6 that was blown
into the corner of a hangar by a Tornado down in the south states.
I was hoping to learn what those two aircraft sold for (for example).
In any event, I do have a number/figure in my head as to what I
think it's worth, and when it comes down to brass tacks, I think
the best course of action is to offer that amount, and if someone
is willing to pay more, they're welcome to take the airframe/project
home to play with it.
Take care,
