Hi,
Would have loved to check out for myself but found I could not extend my itinerary beyond Greybull and needed the time for my drive back to Portland,OR.
Google Earth shows 2 complete airframes and one incomplete stored at Buffalo, a bit off airport.
Ex Hirth airtankers.
First there were 4, one flew out and was restored.
And I thought Gary Hilton had one moved out (by ground transport)?
Can anyone help me on an update here?

The partial airframe is Gary's . The other two airframes, Tanker 39 and 7272 are still there, but have been moved off airport property per city request.

Times have certainly changed, and not for the better, I might add. County/city officials across the fruited plain have forgotten what airports are; they now want these picture-perfect, sterile, Brady Bunch, postcard material airports that will attract high-end users and high-end users only.

Rather than embrace General Aviation, in all shapes and forms, these bureaucrats want to systematically eradicate everything about these airports' history. Those PV's weren't hurting the airport's aesthetic appearance. They are pieces of history and should be recognized for their contributions both in their military and civillian careers. I personally find it maddening that they had to be removed off of the property.

These airports are not landfills, obviously. I see nothing wrong with long-term aircraft storage, big or small; one day they might once again find a purpose, whatever that may be...

I've flown into Buffalo many times and I have always appreciated the fact that they were parked there. Hide and watch, Greybull is next. I love aviation history and it's disappearing fast.
