Plane crashes near Lincoln
A vintage airplane crashed Tuesday afternoon a couple miles west of the Lincoln Regional Airport.
According to Dave Daly, Lincoln airport manager, a Sacramento-area television station told him the pilot walked away from the crash with minor scrapes and abrasions.
The plane, a PT-22 military trainer built in the 1920s, was based at the Lincoln airport. However, Daly said he did not know the name of the pilot.
The cause of the crash, which occurred near a dirt road off Nicolaus Road in rural Lincoln, wasn't known. Another airport spokesperson said pilots flying overhead tried to pinpoint the crash for fire emergency personnel but had a difficult because there were only dirt roads in the area and they were unfamiliar with them.
