This one survived a little longer. It made to the Florence Air and Space Musuem only to be scrapped when the museum closed. Parts of it are still around IIRC.

Not much that was photogenic... Very large pile... I believe the nose and what looks like a seat in 2nd photo were the only things recognizable... Buyer unknown. 23,550 lbs. of scrap - sold for $.1278/lb.

It looked as though disposal used a fork lift or front end loader on cockpit area. Couldn't find even an instrument that wasn't wrecked... 15,000+ lbs. - sold for $.1335/lb.

Nathan - I feel pretty confident that the F-89 pile has been removed. It looks like the remains are in the way of other scrappings progress... :)

64-17671 was a K model. One of the three released from the GA Dept of Forestry. Special Kay 64-17679 was one of the three. Vernon Crouch, Supt. for the State of GA selected the three in 1971 from DM. Vernon told me that these three aircraft were the nicest of the entire lot. Lowest time, best shape and 671 was the best of the three. Sad they disposed of it. We could sure use some spares.
